April 29, 2005-- FORD ENGINE BLOCKS--Currently there appears to be a severe availabilty issue with Ford Motorsports and the availability of the approved Ford engine blocks.  NLMS officials, working in conjuction with several engine builders searched extensively, and exhausted every avenue to locate a source for the blocks, with absolutely no luck.  We have decided to allow Ford teams to use an aftermarket block simply because of availability.  Dart part no.’s 31384195, & 31385195 are approved to use.  World products part no.’s 087150, and 087152 are approved to use.  These blocks are in line with the blocks from Ford, on specifications, such as deck height, weight, and so on.  We feel there is no performance advantage to this block, just more readily available.  The Ford motor is currently the only make that can use the aftermarket block.  Part #’s and casting numbers must remain visilbe and unaltered, and all other rules apply.
